Like painting, this also is a personalized skill. You will need this skill for a
Journalism Career. You don't want a career in journalism? You can make your sim a full-time novelist and live of royalties. Who knows? you might be next on the bestsellers list.
Genres
Once you have 2 skillpoint, you can start writing novels. The more skill you have the more genres you will have to choose from. Here you can see what Genre will be unlocked with how many skill.

Challenges
- Speed writer: Speed Writers are so prolific that they’ve earned §30,000 in royalties. Speed Writers write much faster than normal writers.
- Prolific Writer: Prolific Writers have written at least 20 books in their career. They are so well known that they tend to write far more Hits and Best-sellers than their counterparts.
- Specialist Writer: Writers must pen atleast five novels in a specific genre to be known as a specialist. Such specialists write far more Hits and Best-sellers in their particular genre than most.
Tips
- Technophobe Sims will struggle to develop the skill because the only way to develop it after you've taken a class is to use a computer, which will always give them a negative moodlet.
- To be able to write a childrens book you must have at least level 6 of the painting skill.
- You can only work on 1 novel at a time
- When you start a novel you can name it. When you have finished it, it might even be on the shelves in the local libraby.
- You can start writing a novel when you reach level 2 writing skill.
- Bookworm sims have a jump on this skill.
- Traits of your sim will influence your royalties
- Royalties are paid once a week for several weeks and for each 20% your book is finished.
- To write an Historical novel you need both level 6 and Elder Age.
