Tomb Building: Triggers and Activated Behaviours

List of triggers

A trigger is an action a Sim can perform in a tomb which can cause something to happen to an object in the tomb. The ways to combine these triggers with activated behavious is limitless. See the basic tomb building page for a basic example.

You will find all these triggers by ctrl+shift+left-clicking the object in question to bring up the buy mode interaction menu, and selecting the "Link triggers..." submenu. Make sure you have the cheats enabled as described on the basic tomb building page.

Some items must first have "Add the ability to add triggers and activated behaviours" set on them before you can access the link triggers menu.

After you have chosen a trigger, you must then choose another object and link the trigger to an activated behaviour. If you change your mind and don't want to set up this trigger any more, ctrl+shift+left-click a tomb object and choose "Reset current link".

File:TombsLargePile.png Corner Rubble Pile, Large Rubble Pile Clear This trigger occurs when a Sim finishes clearing the pile of rubble.
File:TombDivewell.png Dive Well Hidden Switch This trigger occurs when a Sim explores the dive well and finds a hidden switch at the bottom.
File:TombHiddenTrigger.png Hidden Trigger Panel Hidden Switch This trigger occurs when an unsuspecting Sim steps onto the hidden panel.
File:TombKeystone.png Keystone Panel Insert Keystone This trigger occurs when a Sim inserts the correct keystone to the panel.
File:TombSMhole.png Small Hole - Wall/Floor Hidden Switch This trigger occurs when a Sim inspects the hole, and means the Sim will find a hidden switch in the hole.

  • Light: Turn Off/On

  • Pull Lever
  • Triggered when the light is turned off or on. NOT recommended, as a user navigating through the tomb cannot access the menu to turn lights on and off!
  • Triggered when a Sim pulls the torch lever. Must have "Enable lever" set from the top level of the buy mode interaction menu.

  • Hidden Switch
  • Triggered when a Sim crosses the trap successfully.
  • Triggered when a Sim disarms the trap. Trap must be set to armed and visible, and "is disarmable" must be set.

File:TombSarcophagus.png Sarcophagus (All) Open Triggered when a Sim opens the sarcophagus and takes a look inside.
File:TombFloorTrigger.png Floor Switch Step On/Step Off Triggered when a Sim steps on or off the plate, or places a pushable statue on or moves it off.

  • Triggered when a chest locked by a keystone has the correct keystone inserted.

  • Turn on/turn off
  • Change channel
  • Triggered when a Sim turns the TV or stereo on or off
  • Triggered when a Sim changes the station on the TV or stereo.
File:TombComputer.png Computers (any) Hack Triggered when a Sim successfully hacks the computer. This trigger also adds the "hack" option for Sims who would not normally have it.
File:TombLight.png Light (any) Turn on/off Triggered when a Sim turns the light on or off. Not recommended for tomb building because Sims cannot access the menus to turn lights on or off while in the tomb unless it is on their home lot.

  • Object removed from inventory
  • Object added to inventory
  • Triggered when a Sim removes a book from the bookcase (to read it, for example).
  • Triggered when a Sim places a book in the book case.

List of activated behaviours

An activated behaviour something that happens to an object in a tomb as a result of a Sim's actions on another object. The ways to combine these activated behaviours with triggers is limitless. See the basic tomb building page for a basic example.

To link an activated behaviour to a trigger, you must set the trigger first. See the list of triggers for more information on how to set these triggers and when they activate.

  • Makes the floor switch appear or disappear
  • Resets the floor switch - if it had been activated it will reset so it can be activated again.

  • Toggle
  • Open/close/lock/unlock
  • Hide/unhide
  • Closes the door if it was open, opens it if it was closed.
  • Opens, closes, locks, or unlocks the entrance.

  • Hides or unhides the entrance.
File:TombFireworks.png Golden Dragon Fireworks Set to fire Makes the fireworks go off. Pretty! The fireworks vanish when they have been set off.
File:TombStair.png Stairs (any) Hide/unhide Makes the stairs hidden/unhidden. IMPORTANT! If you are using this to access a new area of the tomb via concealed stairs, you MUST also set the same trigger which unhides the stairs to unfog the room downstairs using the tomb room marker.
